I spent a month traveling Japan in 2014, carrying a tent in my backpack so I could travel to the most rural areas of the country and still have a place to stay. It was the month of February. The air blowing down the ancient streets was nippy and fresh. Cherry blossoms were beginning to peak out of their winter coats. I fell in love with the style of so many Japanese makers - a continuation of ages of traditional craftsmanship and a deep respect for natural materials. I look forward to returning on my own sailboat to continue my relationship with this place.
