I spent a month traveling Japan in 2014, carrying a tent in my backpack so I could travel to the most rural areas of the country and still have a place to stay. It was the month of February. The air blowing down the ancient streets was nippy and fresh. Cherry blossoms were beginning to peak out of their winter coats. I fell in love with the style of so many Japanese makers - a continuation of ages of traditional craftsmanship and a deep respect for natural materials.
3 years later, I returned for my honeymoon with my love. You can see my travel guide to Kyoto here. I look forward to returning on my sailboat one day to explore the remote islands and continue my relationship with this place.
